PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - In races for Congress, veteran Republican Rep. Phil English was defeated by businesswoman Kathy Dahlkemper, an anti-abortion Democrat, but Reps. John Murtha, Jason Altmire, Tim Murphy and Mike Doyle all beat tough re-election challenges.
After one of the toughest battles of his political career, Congressman John Murtha has won re-election.
Murtha was up against retired Lt. Col. Bill Russell, who moved to the area from Virginia to challenge Murtha.
In the fourth Congressional district, Jason Altmire defeated Melissa Hart in a rematch of the 2006 race.
Tim Murphy and Mike Doyle also won their bids for re-election.
Attorney General Tom Corbett also beat John Morganelli.
